The Corrections Cast Might Include Maggie Gyllenhaal

Today we have news that the new HBO show, The Corrections, may include Maggie Gyllenhaal in its cast. She is in early talks with the team and we will wait to hear whether she signs on… The Corrections is increasingly become the next talked about ‘hit’ which people seem very excited about. It is an [...]

Last night David and I were invited by our good friend Gary to a script reading at the Hudson Theater for a new TV show starring comedienne Judy Gold. The show, which hopefully will be on the air as soon as this coming Fall, is loosely based on Judy‘s brilliant comedy and is focused on her personal homelife — which includes her two sons, her current girlfriend and her former girlfriend (and mother of her children). Throw in some whacky neighbors and a guest appearance by Bette Midler and you have Understanding Judyism.

Last night’s reading was a way for the producers to gage audience response to the pilot script. I mean, c’mon … Judy Gold? I’m shocked the woman hasn’t been given her own TV show by now. I’ve been a fan of hers for many years and I am very excited that she is working on her own show. The script reading last night featured actors reading different characters … among them, Friends actress Maggie Wheeler (who played OH MY GAWD Janice), Mackenzie Aladjem, Monica Horan, Michael Kleeman, John Lehr, Meredith Scott Lynn, Robert Morton, John Park, Mindy Sterling and of course Judy Gold. The jokes were great and the characters are fun but what I love most is that the show will focus on Judy‘s personal life. Judy is a very out and proud woman and she wants her show to feature her family — as crazed as it may be at times — alongside other TV families. I am really excited for the success of this show … and I’m really hoping Understanding Judyism will make it to air soon. David and I had a great time last night. I hope all y’all will be able to see just how good this show is WHEN it makes its television debut.

Tonight … we will be making our way to Tam and Robs for our rescheduled Human Centipede 2: The Full Sequence screening. As you may recall, we had to abort our last attempt at watching the film due to varying circumstances … but tonight will be the night! Not a bad way to start the weekend, eh?

Lana Del Rey Bombs Underwhelms On SNL

What an awkward performance.
Lana Del Rey was set to be one of the up and coming artists of 2012, but nowwwww, we're not so convinved.
She did her first major performance on SNL last night and well…um….hmm…how do we put this delicately?
She bombed.
LOL, sorry, but her voice was all over the place, she was off-key, and [...]

The internet has been banding together over the last few weeks to fight the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and PROTECT IP Act (PIPA) and has just gained a very powerful ally -- the White House!

In a statement responding to two petitions against the bills from the House of Representatives and the Senate, the Obama administration officials wrote:

"While we believe that online piracy by foreign websites is a serious problem that requires a serious legislative response, we will not support legislation that reduces freedom of expression, increases cybersecurity risk, or undermines the dynamic, innovative global Internet."

Critics of both bills believe they may grant the government too much regulatory power on the internet which could result in censorship.

Clearly the White House agrees, however, the reiterates that "online piracy is a real problem that harms the American economy" and suggests the debate is far from over, continuing:

"Moving forward, we will continue to work with Congress on a bipartisan basis on legislation that provides new tools needed in the global fight against piracy and counterfeiting, while vigorously defending an open Internet based on the values of free expression, privacy, security and innovation. Again, thank you for taking the time to participate in this important process. We hope you’ll continue to be part of it."

Piracy is bogus, but we'd prefer they stop it in a way that doesn't affect the creativity and free speech of millions of users who do not illegally download movies or music.

Do U support or oppose SOPA and PIPA?

Brett Favres Sister Sued Over Meth Lab Meltdown

Brett Favre’s sister Brandi was not only busted for Meth recently, but now a neighbor is filing a lawsuit over damage to their home. As if getting caught up in a huge meth bust wasn’t enough, now the famous quarterback’s sister is being sued. Apparently the next door neighbor feels like a meth-related fire at Brandi Favre’s house caused “widespread meth contamination” to their home. “Meth contamination”? Is there even such a thing? I guess so. So the couple feels that they should receive money because they say their house was unlivable for at least five years. They also claim that it cost them a bunch of money to fix the issue. What Every Synthesizer Fan Should Know About The Moog Little Phatty Stage II

Few musical instruments produce as lovely and unique a sound as bamboo instruments. Wind instruments constructed from this material have a light and airy sound that few instruments can replicate. There are several different types of instruments that can be made from bamboo including the bamboo whistle, flute, pan pipes and the increasingly popular didgeridoo.

Olivia Munn is the latest celebrity to get NUDE for PETA’s “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” campaign. Word is out that Snoop Dogg is launching his own tobacco cigar line called, Executive Branch. I have to be honest when I first heard this news, I was pretty surprised. I haven’t heard of any celebs or stars putting their name to a tobacco product in YEARS. Smoking might still be as popular as ever but branding, marketing and sponsorship of tobacco has undergone some pretty massive changes over the last few years. This is certainly an interesting one…

Billboard announced yesterday that Snoop will be unveiling his cigar brand, which he says is made with “premium tobacco from the Dominican Republic,” at this year’s Coachella Festival where he will be performing. The first product released will be the Executive Branch Cigarillos. The information we have now is that the cigarillos will be sold for 99 cents a pouch, with two cigars in each package.

“Throughout my career I have been lucky enough to travel the world and try all different types of tobacco products. During my travels throughout South America and the Caribbean, I was fortunate to encounter this tobacco company, Executive Branch and was so impressed by their commitment to quality [far superior than all others], I knew I had to bring them to the States for all my fans to enjoy,” Snoop Dogg says in a press release. “Throughout 2012, we plan on releasing new styles and flavors, in which I will be working with their team to make sure all products are up to Snoop Dogg standards.”

Hmm… I’m not quite sure what to make of all of this. It just feels very strange to me. I am not naive to think that cigars and cigarettes are not still very popular, and I do know that marketing products with a celebrity is incredibly lucrative on the whole, but this just seems bizarre to me. I mean even TV shows don’t really show people smoking anymore… I think celebrities endorsing smoking is a strange phenomenon, but this goes even further because Snoop Dogg actually will have his own brand of cigars. What do you think of this??
